A merger between the Danish National Board of Health and the Danish Medicines Agency becomes effective on 1 March 2012.
Else Smith will be Chief Executive Officer of the new National Board of Health with Vagn Nielsen, presently Head of Department in the Danish Ministry of Health, as Deputy Director.
"The new National Board of Health will provide synergies for the benefit of the Danish people and patients, and there is great attention to ensuring that the merger takes place with respect for the professional core services that we provide.
I have chosen a severance agreement, so that the employees and leaders in the Danish Medicines Agency and the new management can be as free as possible when navigating towards the future.
We have agreed that I will stay until the end of June, so that I can help the new health board get off to the best start and to carry through some of the many tasks in connection with the EU presidency," says Jytte Lyngvig, CEO in the Danish Medicines Agency.
